Our Fox Frederick location provided complete surveying and engineering services for the design of developer-funded Kellerton Knolls Land Bay ‘B’ Yellow Springs Road / Rocky Springs Road improvements located within the corporate limits of Frederick, Maryland. The design included improvements to approximately 2,870 LF of two-lane roadway. As part of the 2nd phase of the Kellerton Knolls development, improvements to both Yellow Springs Road and Rocky Springs Road were required. The next section of Yellow Springs Road would need to be upgraded to a Primary Urban Arterial and Rocky Springs Road would be upgraded to an Urban Collector. A multi-lane roundabout was designed at the intersection to optimize safety and minimize impacts to adjacent properties. Fox & Associates worked with The Traffic Group to provide the roundabout operational analysis, final horizontal design, pavement markings and signage design. The remaining roadway improvements consisted of widening of the existing two eleven (11) foot wide travel lanes include shoulders, installation of 8” and 12” waterline, storm drain, sanitary sewer, stormwater management, sediment control, street lighting, pavement markings, and signage. The project is designed to meet City of Frederick, Maryland State Highway Administration, AASHTO and MUTCD design guidelines, standards and specifications.
