Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Project Description:
Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) is a 18,000 S.F. trade school specializing in training for aircraft maintenance and repair. The Fox Hagerstown team provided all survey, planning and engineering design services for construction of PIA. Fox provided close coordination with the developer and the architectural design team , the traffic engineers, and Washington County, Maryland staff throughout the design and construction. This project also required close coordination with PIA and Airport officials.
Site Considerations:
- Coordination with airport officials and the Maryland State Highway Administration to obtain plan approval.
- Site design was also subject to FAA regulations due the proximity of Hagerstown Regional Airport (HGR); particularly the review of airspace restrictions for Runway 2/20.
- Processing of plans through Washington County Division of Plan Review and Permitting as well as the following review agencies: Washington County Health Department, Washington County Division of Environmental Management, City of Hagerstown Water Department, and the Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS).
