Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Project Description:
Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) is a 18,000 S.F. trade school specializing in training for aircraft maintenance and repair. Fox & Associates, Inc. provided all survey, planning and engineering design services for construction of PIA. Fox provided close coordination with the developer and the architectural design team , the traffic engineers, and Washington County, Maryland staff throughout the design and construction. This project also required close coordination with PIA and Airport officials.
Site Considerations:
- Coordination with airport officials and the Maryland State Highway Administration to obtain plan approval.
- Site design was also subject to FAA regulations due the proximity of Hagerstown Regional Airport (HGR); particularly the review of airspace restrictions for Runway 2/20.
- Processing of plans through Washington County Division of Plan Review and Permitting as well as the following review agencies: Washington County Health Department, Washington County Division of Environmental Management, City of Hagerstown Water Department, and the Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS).
